I came in for Acupuncture, why did I not get any needles inserted?

The actual insertion of needles is a very small fragment of Chinese medicine. The power behind Chinese medicine is in its foundational view of the interconnectedness of the body and in differential diagnosis. Differential diagnosis is the understanding of YOU and creates INDIVIDUALIZED care. The easiest example to give is if a 7 year old boy, a 35 year old man and a 78 year old female all came in with a sore throat, each of these people would be treated in a completely different way because of their unique history and current health status. The insertion of needles is just one method to treat. In actuality the treatment of fascia through manual therapy has proven to be far more powerful in my clinical experience than needles. It is because we are actually CHANGING the quality of the tissue and therefore interacting with the body in a more profound way. The points are the same in Stecco Fascial Manipulation as they are with Chinese Medicine, it is just how they are being activated that is different.

How many treatments do I need?

The answer to this is varied. It depends on the intensity of your compensation as well as your dedication to your homework. The more homework you do, the less you need to see me and the faster the whole process moves. As a general outline, your symptoms will feel very different between 1-3 treatments. The more you come in initially the faster the process goes. Please know that success for me is you no longer needing my service and my goal is to get you to this place as fast as possible.

How often do I need to do my homework?

Simply the more that you do, the faster everything works. You are re-patterning how you move. You are reprograming and rewiring your brain. My suggestion is at least 3 times per week. I will always give you the most precise and effective tools. As a father I truly understand time as a precious resource and I promise to not waste a second of yours. That said, especially as you start out, some discipline and dedication will serve you tremendously in the long run.

How long will treatment last?

Treatments are one hour long and I will be in the room working on you for that entire hour. This is highly individualized and hands on care.

Will I be sore after?

If you receive Fascial Manipulation work you will be sore for 24-72 hours at the points we work. We are intentionally setting off a therapeutic inflammatory response to correct dysfunctional tissue. This response runs its course over 5 days, the most intense period of this is the first 24 hours. It will feel like a bruise, although no bruise will be present.
